Welcome to the McCabe Powers Historical Museum. This website is an online tribute to the many employees who served to help produce one of the finest utility trucks ever built.

There is little industrial development as integral to the rise of the United States to world power status in the last 100 years as the rapid development and expansion of the transportation industry.  At the close of the 19th Century and in the early days of the 20th Century, the world was rapidly changing. The horse and buggy was slowly giving way to the "horseless carriage", and, with the introduction of Henry Ford’s famous production line, the world turned to motorized transportation, which was suddenly affordable to the common man. Along with the expansion of the personal vehicle market, there was a growing need for specialized commercial vehicles to service the developing economy.

In the 19th Century, there were many companies that produced commercial buggies and carriages. Few companies adapted to the changing times in the early years of the 20th Century and survived to become major players in the production of commercial vehicles.

McCabe-Powers Body Company was one of the companies to survive the changes at the turn of the century, and it continued to contribute to the commercial transportation industry well into the 1980's. The rich history of the McCabe-Powers Body Company, in its diversity & growth, reflects the development of our country in the last 100 years.
